2020 Journey to the Brightside Essays
When the pandemic hit in March of 2020, I was already a few months into a series of essays intended to help others (and myself) live a life that lights them up. My intention was to look at the things that hold us back - unchecked stress, self-doubt, holding on to negativity, getting stuck in overthinking, etc.
As the pandemic continued, I found that writing these essays was a way to keep myself sane, to explore thoughts and feelings that had been buried under a life of continuous motion, and to connect with others who had experienced similar stumbling blocks.
Some of these essays became deeply personal (something I hadn’t planned on) and revealed parts of me that even close friends were unaware of. Out of the 12 essays, I am really, really proud of a few, and I’m grateful that the project provided a sense of moving forward in a year that sometimes moved in slow motion.
