Sunshine on My Shoulders

In the midst of a busy week, I spied a good, healthy patch of sunshine falling on my porch swing out back. I had roughly 7,234 other things to do at that moment, but I couldn't resist stepping out back to soak it up.

I made a deal with myself that I would go out for a short time - maybe five minutes tops. As I settled in, I was super aware of how amazing the sun felt on my shoulders. The John Denver song, Sunshine on My Shoulders, started randomly playing through my mind.

I thought maybe I'll just stretch out for a few minutes of my five minutes.

Fast forward to 20 minutes later when I woke myself up snoring : ) ... But you know what the best part of the story is? It all got done anyway. Everything that had to be done still got finished that afternoon, AND I had truly enJOYed the sun and the swing.

Do the thing that brings you joy. I'm betting that you'll still finish the necessary stuff too.
