How Do You Feed Your Soul?

I have a Q&A for you.

Q: How do you feed your soul?

Suggested A: One bite at a time and often.

Wrong A: Never.

During times I’ve been overwhelmed and stressed out, I’ve noticed a common denominator … I stopped feeding my soul.

For me this means I’ve stopped

  • finding time to pray, reflect, and meditate

  • listening to great music that instantly boosts my mood

  • walking outside and breathing fresh air

  • connecting with people who bring me JOY

  • giving myself free time to rest or create or watch Netflix

  • creating white space in my schedule to transition from task to task

  • paying attention to what I need and when I need it

The funny thing is that even ONE of these activities is enough to help me feel more centered and less overwhelmed. But, there’s this little blip in my brain that sometimes convinces me that if I can’t do ALL of the above, why bother with doing ONE?!?

Oh brain, sometimes you lead me astray.

So, I’ve been trying to take small and daily bites from the list above instead of believing the ALL or NOTHING myth my brain is feeding me. I've been trying to feed my soul even when things are busy or not perfect or seem impossible.

And, it’s been so flipping refreshing - insert sigh of relief here. My soul feels lighter.

This week I hope you remember that life is meant to be enjoyed, even savored, bite by bite.
