The Importance of Filling Your Own Well
How good are you at treating yourself? It can be hard to do something just for you – whether it’s finding the time to take a walk, buying an expensive pair of shoes (more on that in good thing #1), or watching that movie that’s been on your radar.
Treating yourself makes everything else easier. When you make sure you’re filling up your own well and acknowledging that you deserve a little of your own love, it’s much easier to bring light to others. It’s the fuel we need to stay engaged, compassionate, and energized.
Sometimes the hardest part about treating yourself is getting started. Resistance is that pesky little thing in the universe that keeps us stuck. It says to us, “It’s easier to just keep doing things the same old way. Why change now?”
But once you put resistance in its place, you’re always glad you took the walk, bought the shoes (most of the time!), or carved out time to watch the movie.
